March Message from the Director: Luck o' the Kitties
Updated: Mar 22
March is the month of Irish luck, deep-seeded in history and the first day of spring (which also happens to be my brother Andy’s birthday!). The month of March brings hope for nicer weather as the tulips poke through the dirt, longing to grow into fragrant blossoms, and the earth enters longer hours of daylight.
Cat by Cat Inc. has been very fortunate to help many lucky kitties this month and every month, all thanks to our supporters and donors. Luck o’ the kitties was definitely there for Finnegan, a young catten about 9 months old, adopted from Cat by Cat Inc. as a 12-week-old kitten. He had been admitted to a local emergency clinic with a dangerously high fever, not stable on his feet, and his lab work was indicative of Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP). This diagnosis has always been 99% fatal, but science, research, and a team of dedicated veterinarians have now proven that an experimental treatment can be successful. We have treated seven cats successfully, and with any “luck,” Finnegan will be “Lucky” number eight to beat the odds of survival from FIP.
Everyone wishes for a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Here at Cat by Cat Inc., our pot of gold is our team of dedicated volunteers and supporters who believe in our mission. As we enter into community-cat trapping season, may the Luck o’ the Irish carry us through!
